James is the founder of WOMEN EMPOWERED, a leading self-defence initiative dedicated to empowering women through practical, real-world training. With over 35 years of experience in combat fighting systems — and 25 of those years as a professional instructor — James brings an unmatched level of expertise and passion to every course he delivers.
He has trained a wide range of individuals, including security personnel, law enforcement, military, civilians, and teenagers through anti-bullying programmes. His approach combines tactical self-protection with psychological resilience, focusing not just on physical techniques, but on building the inner strength and confidence needed to face real-life threats.
James’s mission is clear: to give women the skills, knowledge, and mindset to survive — and thrive — in today’s world.
Our Instructors
At Women Empowered, our instructors are highly qualified and passionate about teaching vital self-defence skills to women and girls across the country—so you can feel safer, stronger, and more confident in everyday life.
Whether it’s dealing with street harassment, walking home alone at night, or young girls travelling to and from school, everything we teach is focused on real-life scenarios. We combine both physical and verbal techniques to help you stay safe and respond effectively when needed.
My team and I are not masters—we are survivors. Driven by a deep commitment to women’s safety, we regularly deliver self-defence workshops nationwide. We don’t just teach you how to fight back—we teach you how to survive.
